What Is Cancer-Related Fatigue? Fatigue can be caused by cancer itself or by treatment side effects. Fatigue occurs when you feel extremely tired or exhausted most of the time or all of the time. Nine out of 10 cancer patients (90%) feel fatigued. The impacts will be relatively minimal for some people but very disruptive for others. It might be acute (lasting less than a month) or chronic (lasting from one to six months or longer).
