What is iron deficiency anemia

Iron deficiency anemia is a condition that occurs when the body of the patient lacks iron. As a result of this lack of iron, the body cannot produce enough hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is a protein that is found in the RBC and is responsible for carrying oxygen to the tissues in the body. iron deficiency anemia is a very common type of anemia.

  • Inability to absorb iron in the body 

  • Heavy blood loss due to mensuration 

  • Endometriosis

  • Genetics

What are the potential complications that may arise due to iron deficiency anemia? The complications that can occur due to iron deficiency anemia include heat issues, problems during pregnancy, and growth issues in infants and children. A diet containing foods like red meat, dark green vegetables, cruciferous vegetables, nuts, dried fruits, oranges, strawberries, etc. can help in the prevention of iron deficiency anemia. 

Treating the cause of iron deficiency anemia is essential to treat the condition. Hence, it is advice to seek proper medical attention upon noticing the symptoms in order to prevent the development of severe complications in the future. 

Ferisome Injection is given to patients having iron deficiency anemia. This injection contains the active ingredient Iron (III) Isomaltoside, which works by restoring the lost iron levels in the patient and providing symptomatic relief. This injection is given to patients who did not respond properly to oral iron preparations. 

Ferisome IV 500mg Injection is also given to patients having chronic kidney diseases and are on dialysis due to which they cannot take oral iron preparations. Rashes and nausea are the common side effects of this injection.
